Background
The endeavor of Padakhep started in 1986 with its own resources in a small remote village of Barisal district. The motto of the organization is to improve the socio-economic conditions of the by-passed, disadvantaged and most vulnerable people particularly the women and children in rural and urban areas. Beginning its journey, Padakhep as a national NGO has relentlessly marched forward successfully overcoming many hurdles and is currently working all over the country.
Operational Areas
Besides the mainland, Padakhep has also expanded its activities to the pocket areas of poverty such as haor, baor, hill tracts, char, tribal, coastal belt and monga-affected areas. At present Padakhep is operating its development activities all over the country through 14 Zonal Offices, 51 Area Offices and 350 Branch/Project Offices.

To improve quality of life of the poor and the community people as a whole.

Objectives

  • To enhance the socioeconomic conditions of the disadvantaged and underprivileged people through undertaking and implementing strategic programs and projects.
  • To ensure food security of the underprivileged poor people through improving their income and access to food.
  • To assist the disadvantaged and underprivileged people for capacity building and ensuring provisions of basic needs of life like employment, income, health, education, etc.
  • To help in building institution of the target groups for establishing their basic rights in the family, community and society.
  • To transfer ownership of the organization to the beneficiaries.

Staff Strength

Total staff strength of Padakhep presently stands at about 4800. Of them 35% are professionals and the rest are support staff. The professionals have extensive experience and specialization in the areas of microfinance, agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, health, sanitation, education, environment, community development, etc. The organization maintains a ratio of male and female staff (65:35).
